Best baby shower gifts!

“Hey Ang, I have a baby shower to go to this weekend…what gift should I bring?!” As an infant PT, this is one of the most common texts I get from family and friends, and I LOVE helping out to equip babies and new parents with developmentally supportive items. Let me help you too, so you bring a gift that the new parents-to-be can be confident will help their baby grow and thrive.

BUDGET KEY: Items <$20 are indicated with a $. Items that are between $20-50 get $$. Items that are >$50 are labeled as $$$.

Equipment

Have you heard of the term Container Baby Syndrome? If not, read this blog post. If so, you know that less is more when it comes to baby equipment. We want to give baby the opportunity to snuggle, wiggle, explore, and play, so restrictive items should be used sparingly, if at all. But, we all know a parent has lots to get done! And there are some items, like the Boppy pillow, that can be used down the line for developmental play. So choose from these options below to set baby up for equipment success!

Toys

Choosing toys that help support development is one of my favorite things to do as an infant PT! Based on principles of motor learning, developmental guidelines, and sensory experiences, I choose my infant toys carefully. Here are a few of my all-time faves for babies.

Clothing and basics!

Is there anything cuter than baby clothes? Arguably not. I’ll leave the style and fashion decision up to you, but here are a few of my favorite items for functional reasons!

Go big or go home

If you’re looking to go in on a group gift that the parents-to-be will treasure, or if you want to splurge on your pregnant bestie, or if you’re looking to pad your registry with necessary big items—this section is for you! If you can make it work with your budget, it will be worth it in the end!

Happy shopping! The new little one in your life is going to be lucky to have you in their circle! :)
